Marsh’s predecessor
companies were established in Singapore in 1972. The growth and
history of the company are linked to the rapid economic development
of Singapore.
In the 1970’s, Marsh was among the first to introduce
professional broking services to Singapore and the first to act for
multinational companies with interests here. The value of these
services was quickly recognised by large national companies doing
business not only in Singapore, but also throughout the Asian
region.
During the 1980’s, Marsh pioneered innovative insurance
solutions for many large infrastructure projects, including the
world class mass transit system.
1997 saw the consolidation of Marsh & McLennan and Johnson
& Higgins into J&H Marsh & McLennan. This was followed
by the integration of the Sedgwick Group at the end of 1998 into the
new Marsh Singapore. The respected traditions of Johnson &
Higgins, Sedgwick and Marsh & McLennan were well known in the
Asia-Pacific region. As a result of the merging of these global risk
advisers and insurance brokers, clients around the world can now
benefit from the firm’s expanded capabilities, resources and
geographic reach as well as the expertise of professionals in
specialist practices designed to handle clients’ individual risk
management needs.
